Always remove your shoulder-rest before putting your violin or viola in your
case. If you force the case closed, you could actually crack the top of the
instrument.
Take care putting on and removing your shoulder rest, as the feet could scratch
the instrument thus requiring varnish touch up and in some cases, even
edgework. If the feet of your should-rest are very worn, you should consider
getting them or the whole shoulder-rest replaced. Kun shoulder-rests are very
popular and have spare parts readily available. Other brands spare parts are
not as readily available, or in some cases, not even sold separately. If you
have problems with your shoulder-rest, bring it into Austin’s and we can assist you in replacing either part or the whole of your rest. Your
instrument will thank you!
